Frequently Asked Questions
Gum disease (gingivitis) will show itself as red, swollen gums that bleed when brushed or flossed. Many people are alarmed when they notice this bleeding and will then brush more gently, if at all. It is important that you continue to clean regularly and firmly in order to fight the condition. Our practice recommends that children between the ages of 4 and 5 come in for their very first dental cleaning and examination. We strive to give your child a good and positive first dental experience, so we truly recommend that your child takes place in a cleaning with their parent, in order to get them familiarized with the experience. This helps strengthen the bond and trust for our dental staff when your child is approached. What is a bridge? Bridges are ideal for people who don't like dentures or only have one or two teeth missing. Conventional bridges are made by crowning the teeth on either side of the gap and attaching a false tooth in the middle. They are fixed in the same way as crowns. These bridges are usually made of precious metal bonded to porcelain. Sometimes other non-precious metals are used in the base for strength.
