Dental Implants
Restore Your Smile with Dental Implants

If you are missing one or more teeth, we know you understand the related challenges of trying to chew, and the awkwardness of smiling and laughing, especially if you are missing a front tooth.

At Dental Care Center of Macon, our surgical dental team and restorative dentists work together to provide our patients with dental implant restorations and implant dentures to replace missing teeth.

How dental implants work:

single dental implant front lower tooth

A dental implant is a small, surgical titanium cylinder that is placed by a dentist or dental specialist in the area where a tooth is missing. The dental implant procedure is performed in a brief surgical appointment at our office.

A dental implant is designed to work with the body's healing processes and integrate with the jaw bone to create a stable replacement for the tooth root, which can be restored with a dental crown or bridge to complete a smile. Two or more dental implants may serve as an attachment to lock a partial or complete denture into place.

3D Imaging Technology & Dental Implants

Our dentists frequently utilize 3D Cone Beam Imaging to study the bone levels of the implant site and for guided placement of the dental implant when necessary. The 3D radiographic imaging software allows the dentist to view an implant site from multiple angles to evaluate bone depth and width.

Advantages of Dental Implants:

Conservative restoration
When teeth are missing, dental implants may offer a more appealing solution than a dental bridge, which requires drilling of surrounding teeth for support. Often in the case of a single missing tooth, an implant and crown can be placed without disturbing other teeth.

Integration and preservation
For years, missing teeth have been associated with loss of jaw bone support due to lack of stimulation and blood flow between the teeth and jaw structures. Current research indicates that the placement of dental implants, in the absence of natural teeth, can help reduce the rate of bone loss.

A brighter future for denture-wearers
Not only do complete and partial dentures fit more securely with the addition of dental implants, these patients are more likely to retain bone and maintain their long-term ability to wear their dentures.
